Jalandhar Rural Police crack Kadian land dispute case in record time, 5 arrested

In a swift operation, the Jalandhar Rural Police resolved a violent land dispute case in Qadiana village under the jurisdiction of Phillaur police station in record time. Five accused of intimidation, illegal acquisition of property and official forgery were detained. The operation also recovered a 12-barrel shotgun, a Farmtrac tractor, a Mahindra Xylo, fake documents and four mobile phones.

The arrested persons were identified as Baljit Singh alias Billa, Gurpreet Singh alias Gora, Gurjit Kaur, Harjit Kaur and Balwinder Singh, all residents of Kadiana village in Phillaur. Efforts are on to nab the remaining accused — Harveer Singh alias Harry and Harpreet Singh alias Happy — who are absconding.

The accused were prosecuted under Articles 115(2), 125, 126(2), 191(3), 190, 304, 351(3) of the BNS and 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act. Preliminary investigative actions established that the accused committed a deliberate act due to an old land dispute. The arrested accused will be handed over to a local court and remanded in custody for further investigation.

The case came to light on January 17, when the applicant reported that a group of individuals armed with a 12-barreled shotgun entered their territory, shot into the air, and seized their tractor. The accused also forced the applicant’s father to sign blank documents under pressure.

Police launched the operation under SP Investigation Jasroop Kaur Bath and supervision of Phillaur DSP Sarwan Singh Bal, PPS, and SHO Phillaur Inspector Sanjeev Kapoor. Talking to the press, SSP Jalandhar Rural Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh emphasized that the police will not tolerate miscreants in the district. He assured the public of swift and effective action against any criminal activity, maintaining peace and order in the region.
