Senior management in the DPP’s office files a complaint against Pride

Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pride and Acting Chief Prosecutor Nancy Tikoisuwa

Senior management in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions filed a complaint against Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde with FICAC.

Acting DPP Nancy Tikoisuwa says a review of the file revealed several inconsistencies and a complaint was lodged with FICAC under the ODPP’s whistleblowing policy.

The complaint relates to allegations of abuse of office resulting from the payment of bonuses without the President’s approval in 2013-2018, which were referred to FICAC.

The DPP’s office says the other allegations include receiving remuneration in 2023 in excess of Pride’s entitlement, paying life insurance instead of a pension and paying for airfare for family trips outside the terms of the contract.

Tikoisuwa says these are just some of the many allegations that have been made to FICAC following a review of the accounts file after it was returned to the office on January 9.

She says the FICAC team has also executed a search warrant at the DPP’s office as the investigation continues and the ODPP will cooperate with the investigation.

Pride was also informed of the complaint.

On January 7, 2025, the Office of the President sent a letter and report to the Tribunal to the Acting DPP regarding the findings and decision to reinstate Pride.

Tikoisuwa says that in order to implement the tribunal’s findings and directives, Tikoisuwa subpoenaed Pride’s personal files at the Chief Secretary’s office, which were seized as part of the Tribunal’s investigation.

On 9 January 2025, the files were returned to the ODPP, after which a senior management team held a meeting to review Pride’s file, which included the Acting DPP, the Deputy DPP and three Assistant DPPs.

Pride confirmed that he will resume work at the DPP’s office next Monday.

Now we are trying to talk to him.
