Plans for Derby’s annual commemorative events have been confirmed.

The event, which will take place on November 10, will see troops from the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps parade through the city center to Market Square.

A short service led by the Rt Rev Dr Peter Robinson, Dean of Derby, is scheduled for 11am GMT, followed by a two-minute silence and the laying of wreaths at the war memorial.

There will be designated public viewing areas in Market Square, as well as a large screen, and the ceremony will also be available to watch on the City Council’s YouTube channel.

Members of local veteran and youth organizations will also take part.

The event will start with a performance by the Surtal Arts Community Choir, a South Asian arts organization based in Derby, in the Market Square at around 10.15am.

Council leader Nadine Pitfield said: “Remembrance is an incredibly important event in the community calendar and I am very proud that partners from across the city are once again working together to deliver events in the city center on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day”.

The roads will be closed from 08:00 to 13:00 and the council house car park will be closed to the public from Saturday evening.
