Wall has pleaded not guilty to murder, other charges | News, Sports, Work

LISBON — Jeno L. Wall pleaded not guilty Thursday to aggravated murder and other charges related to the shooting death of 30-year-old Robert E. Herron on September 9, 2024.

Wall, also known as Malley, 34, of Steubenville, appeared by video from the Columbiana County Jail to face charges handed down by a county grand jury in December.

Charges against him include unclassified felonies of aggravated murder and murder, as well as third-degree felony counts of intimidation of an attorney, victim or witness in a criminal case, and a firearm specification for allegedly using a firearm to cause Herron’s death.

He could face life in prison without parole if convicted of aggravated murder, according to District Attorney Vito Abruzzino. He faces up to three years in prison on each of the two firearms counts.

During the arraignment, Wall was represented by defense attorney Pete Horvath and asked that the charges against him be read aloud.

District Judge Scott Washam read the indictment into the record as he handed down the charges

According to the indictment, the aggravated murder charge alleges that Wall “intentionally, with premeditated calculation and plan, caused the death of another, namely: Robert E. Herron”. The homicide alleges that he willfully caused death.

Abruzzino previously said the intimidation charge was related to Wall’s alleged actions after the shooting.

Wall was found indigent and Washam appointed defense attorneys James Wise and Joe King to handle the case, which was assigned to Common Pleas Court Judge Megan Bickerton. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 3 p.m. Jan. 17, according to online court records.

His bail remains set at $1 million cash or surety.

A press release issued by Abruzzino and Wellsville Police Chief Ed Wilson at the time of the indictment in December said: “Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on September 9, 2024, officers with the Wellsville Police Department responded to a report of a possible shots fired on Tenth Street. Officers found Herron fatally wounded behind a residential garage.”

Herron’s mother, Roberta Pratt, and sister, Latasha Herron, attended the arraignment, and Pratt was visibly upset afterward.

Abruzzino previously said that while Wall has been charged, the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information about that night is asked to contact the Wellsville Police Department at 330-532-1522.
