A 50-acre Rusk County wildfire is contained

RUSK COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) – Firefighters are battling a fire they say is spreading quickly due to dry weather. The fire started around 18:45

By 9:45 a.m., the fire was reportedly 75 percent contained, according to Nnational interdepartmental firefighting center. At 11:25 they reported 100% localization.

According to the Rusk County Office of Emergency Management (OEM), several county fire departments are on the scene of fires on county roads 324, 401, 4188, 438 and 376. They say some of the fires are starting during high winds, which required a response from the Texas of the A&M Forest Service by both ground and air means.

The fire on County Road 438 has an initial estimate of 50 acres and is 10 percent contained, according to the latest OEM update at 7:20 p.m.

According to the Rusk County OEM, active responses are still ongoing. Please look out for emergency vehicles. If you notice any suspicious activity, please report it to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office at 903-657-3581 or the Rusk County Fire Marshal’s Office at 903-657-8571.
