Beth Ann White’s attorney will appeal the verdict

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A woman convicted of driving under the influence and killing a mother and her six-month-old son is appealing her conviction in the Mississippi Supreme Court.

Attorneys for Beth Ann White filed the appeal on her behalf.

Back in May this year, immediately after White’s guilty plea, Kevin Kemp said he planned to appeal the convictions.

First, he filed a motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict in the case.

He wanted the court to ignore the jury’s decision to convict White or grant her a new trial.

Kemp claims prosecutors failed to prove White was intoxicated during a fatal accident.

However, this the motion was deniedtherefore, Kemp is now making a final appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court.

Bely was in May found guilty on four counts of aggravated DUI and one count of fourth-degree DUI.

Jurors found her guilty of driving under the influence when she crashed into a car killed 39-year-old Allison Conaway and her six-month-old son, Alex, and seriously wounded Conaway’s two daughters, Chloe and Chelsea.

Earlier this year, a judge sentenced White to 110 years old in prison
