Traffic warden hit and killed by van in Brooklyn: sources

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (PIX11) — A construction worker was struck and killed by a van in Brooklyn Tuesday afternoon, according to police and sources.

The 37-year-old driver of the van is accused of hitting a traffic stop near 724 Myrtle Avenue between Walworth and Sandford streets in Bedford-Stuyvesant shortly before 2 p.m., police and sources said.

The worker was pushed into the truck after the collision, according to the NYPD. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but it was not possible to save her.

According to video from the scene, a silver vehicle can be seen between the white Enterprise van and the construction truck Citizen app personnel

All drivers remained on the spot, one person was detained, the police said. Charges were expected.

The investigation is ongoing.
