A suspect has been charged in a double homicide in Tulare after a home invasion

A man has been charged with a double homicide after a Tulare home invasion.

It happened on Thursday around 3 o’clock in the morning in the 200 block of East Berkeley Avenue around 3 a.m

Officers responded to a trespasser call and found 58-year-old Melissa Quinn and 38-year-old Raymond Garza with stab wounds inside their home.

Garza was pronounced dead at the scene, and Quinn died a short time later at the hospital.

Police learned the suspect, 30-year-old Fabian Gamez, entered the home and first confronted Quinn.

They say he stabbed Quinn and then confronted Garza, who was wounded during the altercation.

Another person in the house heard the commotion and shot him as he stood over Garza.

Gamez tried to run but was held at gunpoint in the backyard until police arrived.

Detectives believe Gamez has been committing burglaries in the area and breaking into victims’ homes.

Gamez was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and booked into the Tulare County Detention Center South on two counts of murder.

The investigation is ongoing and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Tulare Police Department at (559) 684-4290.

A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up to pay for their funerals.
