New York State Police are looking for a fugitive in the Somers shooting

SOMERS, NEW YORK — New York State Police are actively searching for a suspect in a shooting late Monday night in Somers that left one person dead and two others hospitalized. Authorities have identified the suspect as 40-year-old Fernando Jimenez, who is believed to be armed and dangerous.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:35 p.m. on October 28. Police confirmed that Jimenez was known to the victims, but did not release additional details about a motive. Jimenez was last seen in the Peekskill Hollow Road area of ​​nearby Putnam Valley, so residents are urged to stay away from him.

Jimenez is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 170 pounds, and was last seen wearing black sweatpants and a gray hoodie. A heavy police presence remains in the vicinity of Peekskill Hollow Road, and authorities are advising the public to avoid the area.
