A Bowling Green man accused of leading deputies on a chase has been arrested

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – A man who ran from law enforcement Sunday afternoon is facing a number of charges.

A Warren County sheriff’s deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Pintail Drive, according to a news release.

The operator of the vehicle, identified as 37-year-old Aaron Smith, failed to stop and turned onto Teal Street, going over 70 mph through the Summit area and onto Dillard Road.

Deputies say Smith continued down Dillard Road, nearly losing control of his vehicle several times. He then turned onto Neal Howell Road and then onto Elrod Road, where he lost control of the vehicle and crashed on the curve near the 1600 block.

After crashing the vehicle, Smith fled on foot before being apprehended by deputies without incident.

Smith was arrested, booked into the Warren County Regional Jail and held on three outstanding warrants. He was charged with the following additional charges:

  • Speeding, 26 mph or more
  • Reckless driving
  • Ignoring the stop sign
  • Fleeing or eluding police in the second degree
  • Fleeing or eluding police in the third degree
  • Driving without an ignition interlock device
