“During the musical event of the performer Diljit Dosanjh held on 14.10.2024, noise levels were monitored at various locations and it was observed that the noise level exceeded the limits prescribed by the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000,” the Chandigarh administration said in a statement filed earlier. court, according to the Bar and Bench report.

“Accordingly, action has been proposed under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000,” the administration added.

Last week, organizers of the Dosanjh concert received court permission to hold the event in Chandigarh on December 14.

He ordered the organizers to comply with the Noise Pollution (Control and Regulation) Rules.

“Looking at the preparations made by the official respondents as well as the private respondents, this Court has no hesitation in allowing the event to take place subject to compliance with ambient air quality standards for noise maintained at the boundary of the event site. in custody, up to a maximum of 75 dB,” the court said.

He ordered the authorities to take fines against concert organizers if the noise level exceeds 75 decibels.

The PIL was filed by advocate Ranjit Singh, who sought to restrain the organizers from holding the event without proper norms.
