PEMBA, MOZAMBIQUE. Cyclone Chido made landfall near Pemba, in the province of Cabo Delgado in northern Mozambique.

UNICEF has expressed concern about the damage Cyclone Chido could cause in Mozambique.

Earlier, strong cyclone winds hit the French territory of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean, with authorities warning of serious damage and residents fearing the worst.

At least two people died there.
