When the 2024 NFL schedule was released, fans surely circled the Week 14 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys as a matchup featuring Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Dak Prescott, CD Lamb and Homer Simpson.

That’s right, get ready for a trip to Springfield during the broadcast Monday night football game like ESPN and Disney announced it will be presented as a special Simpsons Funday Football as an alternative broadcast.

“It’s Bart and the Bengals vs. Homer and the Cowboys,” the message reads.

While the Dec. 9 game will still be available in its traditional broadcast format on ESPN and ABC, Simpsons Funday Football will be an alternate viewing of the presentation on Disney+ and ESPN+. It will also be available on mobile in NFL+.

Using NFL Next Gen Stats, Sony Beyond Sports and Sony Hawk-Eye Innovations optical tracking, Bengals and Cowboys players will appear as animated real-time players at Atoms Stadium in Springfield.

What’s more, Bart and Homer will replace a player and appear on the field with 10 teammates at certain points in the game.

They won’t be the only iconic characters featured in the broadcast, as Marge and Lisa will be tasked with interviewing the players, while Maggie will operate the SkyCam. Other characters will also appear, including authentic Simpsons voices such as Hank Azaria, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner and Yeardley Smith.

The producers of The Simpsons will also write original content for inclusion in the telecast, and players from the Bengals and Cowboys will have pre-recorded segments with the characters.

This isn’t the first time Disney and ESPN have done something like this, as the game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons was featured as Toy Story simulcast last year.

This created a series of memorable moments and videos that added another element to the broadcast.

The Simpsons plans to do the same this year.
