Erie teenagers participate in national horse judging

Three Erie teenagers recently competed in the USA Arabian and Half-Arabian Youth National Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sophia Block, Clara DeSouza, and Audrey Wright participated in several different contests.

DeSouza was second in halter, seventh in performance, second in reasons and fourth overall. Wright was fifth in halter, 15th in performance, fifth in reasons and eighth overall. In her first national competition, Block placed 20th in halter, 16th in scoring, 19th in motivation and 20th overall.

All three are 4-H members participating in the Boulder County 4-H Judging Team.

The Colorado Arabian Horse Club/Arabian Horse Association Region VIII Junior Team was first in the racehorse division, third in performance and first in reasons for the Reserve National Championship.

Team members from Boulder, Weld and Elbert counties combined to form the Colorado State 4-H team, which was named the Reserve National Champions in its division, narrowly edging out the Colorado 4-H team from El Paso County.
