Massachusetts State Trooper Arrested After Drunk Driving Crash in Tewksbury

A Massachusetts state trooper has been placed on administrative leave after he allegedly crashed into another vehicle while driving under the influence on Sunday, state police said Monday.

Just after 11:00 p.m. Sunday night, according to Tewksbury Police, officers responded to the area of ​​Main Street and Clark Road for a report of an accident.

Massachusetts State Trooper James Doran, 28, of Tewksbury, was identified as the driver of one of the vehicles. Tewksbury police determined Doran was operating under the influence and arrested the trooper.

The driver and passenger of the other car were taken to the hospital for evaluation, police said.

Doran was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

“Recognizing the serious nature of the allegations, the Department has placed Trooper Doran on administrative leave pending the outcome of a duty status hearing later this week,” the Massachusetts State Police said in a statement Monday evening, noting that the trooper was off duty at the time. accidents

Doran is a member of the 90th Recruit Training Unit who graduated from the State Police Academy on Oct. 9, state police said. All new troopers go through a 12-month probationary period after graduation, state police said.
