Rochester man charged with negligent homicide in crash that killed National Guard commander

October 28. An 81-year-old Rochester man has been charged with negligent homicide after a July crash that killed a New Hampshire Air National Guard commander.

Earlier this month, Paul Clement was charged with negligent homicide “under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs” for causing the death of 57-year-old John Pogorek while driving. prosecution.

Pogorek, a brigadier general, was parked on the shoulder of Crown Point Road in Rochester with his teenage son at about 5 p.m. on July 8 when a westbound Toyota RAV4 hit him while he was out of the vehicle. His son was not injured.

Clement was also charged with conduct after an accident for “willfully failing to stop his vehicle at the scene of an accident,” according to the indictment.

Police say surveillance footage and a tip helped identify Clement, who lives on Crown Point Road, as the driver.

Clement is scheduled to be arraigned in Strafford County Superior Court on Nov. 5.

The charge of negligent homicide is punishable by imprisonment for 7 and a half to 15 years.

Pogorek commanded more than 1,300 officers and airmen at Pease Air National Guard Base and served as Gov. Chris Sununu’s top adviser on the New Hampshire National Guard.
