Chatfield man pleads guilty to vehicular homicide in 2022 Olmsted County fatal crash – ABC 6 News

(ABC 6 News) — A Chatfield man has pleaded guilty more than two years after causing a fatal crash in September 2022.

Nicholas Allen Sprou, 59, pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular manslaughter with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more within two hours of driving, according to court documents.

The crash happened just before 10:00 PM on September 10, 2022 on Hwy 52 near Orion Township.

A 36-year-old resident of Rochester, Ricky Hatton, died.

A memorial to Hatton was erected on Hwy 52 after the accident, but it later disappeared.

Two other vehicular homicide charges were dropped in Spraw’s case under a plea deal.

Sprouse’s guilty plea depends on the court’s decision. If the sentence exceeds 41 months, the court document says he can withdraw his plea.
