Tory leader front-runner rejects ‘aggressive’ and ‘lazy’ claims in Sky News interview

Cami Badenoch spoke to Political Hub with Sophie Ridge for tonight’s programme.

The front-runner to be the next leader of the Tory party is a regular subject in media reports that she is difficult to work with and has been accused of being intimidating.

She denies it when put to it Sophie Ridgenoting that she was also accused of being “lazy”.

Accusations of being “aggressive” and “lazy” seem contradictory, she suggests, adding, “I don’t know why people say things like that.”

“People are often just looking for anything they can to get me involved,” says the shadow housing secretary.

“I try not to get caught up in what people are saying behind my back.”

She also refuses to call criticism of her racist or sexist.

But she proudly declares that she is “very outspoken” and “very confident”.

“I’m not a jerk,” she adds.

Ms Badenoch also suggested all her Tory rivals should get a job in the shadow cabinet and outlined her fears about the Prime Minister in a full interview.
