The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash in Minnehaha County has been identified

SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – Authorities have released the identity of a Hartford man who died in a motorcycle accident in Minnehaha County.

The accident happened last thursday around 6:30 a.m. on Highway 42, nine miles west of Sioux Falls.

According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, 56-year-old Kellyn DeVries was riding a motorcycle westbound on Highway 42.

At the same time, the driver of the pickup truck was traveling east and was trying to pass the vehicle in front. Authorities say a pickup truck entered the westbound lane and crashed head-on into a motorcycle.

DeVries died at the scene. The driver of the truck, a 19-year-old man from Sioux Falls, suffered minor injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.

No charges had been filed at the time of the DPS press release.
