Myrtle Beach police officer shoots ‘aggressive’ dog in incident on Ocean Blvd.

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A Myrtle Beach police officer on scene shot and killed a dog Sunday night that police said was acting aggressively.

Myrtle Beach police were called around 10:14 p.m. to the 600 block of North Ocean Boulevard for a disturbance.

Law enforcement officers found a person with a dog on the spot. The dog began lunging at the officers, and they used “less lethal countermeasures to stop its attack,” but that didn’t work, according to MBPD.

One officer eventually shot and killed the dog, which was then taken to an animal hospital, police said. The dog is expected to be OK.

One officer was taken to the hospital after the incident, but was later released.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 843-918-1382.
