4 teenagers, 1 adult charged in beating death of Atkinson County teenager

PEARSON, Ga. (WOLB). A teenager has died after being beaten to death in Atkinson County.

On the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 12, five people, including four juveniles, beat a 16-year-old boy, identified as Darion Davis, to death on Cara Loop in Pearson, according to Chief Knapik of the Atkinson County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Pearson Police Chief Tanner Farmer, one of the suspects had an argument with Davis over a previous case when they were both arrested for crimes about two years ago. This then led to a fatal incident.

Davis was taken to a local hospital but later died at a hospital in Savannah, Georgia, Atkinson County Coroner Relihan said. His body was taken to the forensic laboratory for examination.

Chief Knapik told WALB that the suspects have been identified as 21-year-old Nehemiah Jones, 17-year-old Verntron White, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old.

Everyone is accused of:

  • Serious murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Degraded battery

White charges as an adult.

White and Jones are currently being held in the Atkinson County Jail, while the three teenagers are being held in a juvenile facility.
