DeMeco Ryans calls Stefon Diggs’ knee injury ‘unfortunate’ but doesn’t elaborate on severity

Texas wide receiver Stefon Diggs suffered a non-contact injury to his right knee in the third quarter Sunday. He didn’t come back.

Coach DeMeco Ryans did not address the injury after the game, which in itself is not good news. Diggs will undergo an additional medical examination on Monday.

This is unfortunate to see Steph go there,” Ryans said, via KPRC’s Aaron Wilson . “He’s still being tested on his knee. We will learn more information during the week.”

After falling to the ground, Diggs immediately grabbed his right knee with 1:50 left in the third quarter. He left the field at his own pace and headed for the X-ray room.

“Prayers to Steph. I hope he’s OK,” defensive end CJ Stroud said. “I don’t know what’s going on yet, but I’m praying for him and I hope he starts to feel better.”

Diggs, who the Texans acquired in an offseason trade with the Bills, caught five passes for 81 yards. His 47 receptions this season have Nico Collins still on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

The Texans have Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods and John Matchey III behind Collins and Diggs.
