A Southfield man was hospitalized after he was struck by a car while crossing Interstate 96 Saturday afternoon, according to a tweet from the Michigan State Police Second District.

Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police said a 30-year-old man was running while trying to cross the freeway near Merriman Road.

He was given CPR at the scene and taken to a local hospital, where he regained a pulse and was treated, police said.

The pedestrian’s family was informed. The driver of the car remained on the spot. The freeway was closed for an investigation and reopened.
