Easy until Monday; Rain is on the way

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — Just like the first half of the weekend, the second half will be more of the same: dry with windy weather.

Fears of fire weather will be relevant again, so be careful with any external heat sources. We’re going to stick with these fears until at least Monday as a dry frontal boundary moves east.

Today and Monday are the best days to get outside if you can brave the wind. We will also be getting warmer…especially in the East River…Monday will be the warmest day in the East River ahead of the aforementioned cold front. That title could go to Sunday if you’re West River.

As we head into the middle of the week, we are watching our chance for rain with a low pressure that is finally starting to change. It develops West River first in the morning and moves east during the evening and night. The best chance of rain generally appears on both sides of the river Tuesday night into early Wednesday. The rain will continue through Wednesday and stop late in the evening.

While the week’s rain totals aren’t overly impressive, it’s still worth noting given the record pace we’re on in several places for the driest fall on record.

After that, we’ll be cool and dry just in time for Halloween. We’re favoring slightly above average temperatures for the first few days of November, with a slight chance of rain next Saturday.

Here’s your extended forecast:
