Tulane Baseball takes on the community college in the first scrimmage of the season

Tuleina baseball program has been considered one of the best in the country for the past few decades.

With 23 NCAA Tournament appearances, the Green Wave set the standard.

After finishing 19-42 in 2023, there was some concern that Tulane would struggle for the foreseeable future. However, they rebounded significantly the following campaign, going 36-26 and winning the AAC Tournament.

They ended up getting knocked out of the Corvallis Regional, but it was a step in the right direction for a program looking to find its way again.

Heading into the 2025 season, Tulane hopes to continue playing at a high level. With the talent and coaching staff on the roster, there’s no reason why they can’t get there.

Tulane is also already in action, getting down to business. In 2018, the NCAA began allowing Division 1 baseball teams to play two scrimmages against opponents without the games counting.

their the first fight of the year was against Pearl River Community College on Saturday, one of the top community colleges in the country.

According to Tulane baseball X’s official account, they lost 20-15 in a 16-inning contest.

While the goal is always to win when they step on the diamond, it’s important to take these games with a grain of salt.

Tulane had a five-run lead in the top of the seventh inning, winning 9-4. However, they trailed 17-10 in the top of the 10th inning.

In the 2023 season, their pitching staff struggled somewhat, posting a 5.37 ERA as a team.

That might be something to watch out for moving forward, as they’ll need to get it down a run or so.

Tulane has yet to release any stats, but plenty of young men have likely seen action. It’s often a time for guys who won’t see much of the field during the regular season to go about their business.

In college baseball, some junior colleges are better than many Division 1 programs. Tulane is good enough to compete with any Juco in the country, but Pearl River CC is ranked just as high for a reason.

According to the school, they will play again on Nov. 2 vs Nichols in their final fall scrimmage.

The team’s second scrimmage against Nicholls is scheduled for Tulane on Saturday, Nov. 2, also at 1 p.m., with gates officially opening at 12 p.m. The Green Wave went 3-0 against Nicholls last season, including a win over the Colonels in the 2024 Corvalis Regional.”

Tulane has yet to announce its spring schedule, but it should be released soon.
