A car driver in Bengaluru installs a dash cam to improve passenger safety and confidence. Watch | Bengaluru

A Bengaluru-based car driver installed a dashcam in his ‘well-kept’ van to instill confidence among customers, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable during their journeys.

Shanta Gowda said, “I want my customers to know that they are in good hands,” he explained. “The registrar records everything that can be decisive in case of any incidents.”

A dash cam, short for dashboard camera, is a small video camera mounted on the dashboard or windshield of a car to record the road ahead and sometimes the interior of the car.

In a video posted by Nagara Metered Auto on X (formerly Twitter), the dash cam captures a conversation between Shanta Gowda and a passenger. The passenger asks for a ride to the destination and asks for the fare. Gowda replies, “I’ll use the meter and you can pay me whatever it shows.”

After entering the car, the passenger expresses his admiration for the condition of the car, noting the rain-resistant curtains on the sides, the video recorder and the general cleanliness of the autorickshaw.

The video has garnered over 39,000 views and over 500 likes on X.

Recently, another video of Gowda went viral on social media where he says that if we provide quality services to customers, they will be satisfied and pay us more themselves. We don’t need to overpay for them.” Gowda, who has been riding since 1996, says he has never even asked for an extra charge until today. 10 from their customers, regardless of distance.

Another auto driver from Bengaluru recently became an internet sensation after he was shown on social media wearing a tech-savvy smartwatch and a QR code for digital payments. The post quickly went viral, garnering over 488,000 views and 24,000 likes. “Auto anna pulled a move #peakBengaluru,” wrote a user on X.
