‘SNL’ interviews squirrel widow P’Nat on Weekend Update

Saturday Night Live Update touched on the saga of P’Nut the squirrel this week, with his “widow” discussing the controversy surrounding the beloved pet’s euthanasia and internet sensation.

P’Nut’s dead wife, Mrs. Hazel Nut, was played by Sarah Sherman, appeared on the news desk dressed as a widow to discuss the trials and tribulations she and the famous squirrel have endured with host Colin Jost.

“The police broke into our house and then P’Nut bit one like a goddamn hero,” explained an outraged Mrs. Nutt. “Then they kidnapped P’Nath and beheaded him during a rabies test.”

“Oh, it’s so hard to be in the media spotlight, Colin,” Hazel said. “I’m used to doing normal squirrel things like, you know, chasing my own tail or running out into the middle of the street and seeing a car and then (shivers uncontrollably).”

Hazel revealed that P’Nat was just a squirrel’s “human name” and his real name consisted of indecipherable squirrel squeaks.

Sherman’s Hazel Nut told Yost how the pair first came together—meeting by a tree—and actively used the squirrel’s cues to flirt with Yost.

P’Nut was captured for the first time Department of Environmental Protection October 30 – The New York State Department of Environmental Protection cited anonymous complaints that the home was home to a known rabies carrier in the form of Fred the raccoon.

P’Nath lived with guardian Mark Longo for seven years before his capture and murder. Longo rescued the puppy after seeing its mother hit by a car.

The squirrel became a social media star before his untimely and unjust death.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that DEC decapitated P’Nut as part of a rabies test.
