Erie police have arrested a third suspect in connection with a beating that left one man dead in late October.

Police have carried out many inquiries over the past few weeks since it happened and are now nearing the end of their hunt for those responsible.

A death has been ruled a homicide after a man was found on a sidewalk in east Erie

Despite these three arrests in this case, one suspect remains at large.

So far, four people have been charged in the slaying of a 31-year-old man who police and the Erie County coroner say was bludgeoned to death.

An investigation is ongoing after the killing on October 30, and police have now said they believe these suspects are responsible.

“Two of these persons were in custody until Thursday morning. On Thursday morning, our SWAT team conducted an operation and arrested an individual who was also wanted for this murder. So now three people have been arrested in connection with this murder, but we’re still looking for one more,” said Erie Deputy Police Chief Rick Lora.

Jack DeFilippo, 61, Leah Hardin, 36, and Devon Barnett, 42, were arrested by police on charges including felony murder, aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit murder.

According to the affidavit, four suspects chased the victim. The video shows them knocking Idi to the ground and kicking him continuously, hitting his head and neck with many blows.

“At this point, we’ve pretty much talked to everyone we need to talk to, and we’re not looking for anyone in this regard. Although the question of whether any new charges will be filed is still unknown,” Chief Lora said.

Police are still looking for Jeffrey Edmond, 37, for his alleged role in the case.

“Obviously we’ve been looking and obviously we have a few people looking for him, but at this point we haven’t been able to find him. But we will keep going until he is arrested,” Laura said.
