A man was shot after an argument with people selling water on an I-20 on-ramp

A man was rushed to the hospital after being injured during an altercation with someone selling water at the Interstate 20 exit Friday afternoon.

Police responded to a shooting at 507 Joseph E. Lowry Blvd. SW and found a person who had been shot. The victim, whose identity has not been established, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Investigators say the man was arguing with “males who were selling water.” Police say during that altercation, a man was shot and the suspects fled before getting there.

NewsChopper 2 flew over the scene during Channel 2 Action News at noon and saw a gas station parking lot blocked off with crime scene tape and police officers at the I-20 exit.

It appears that the police have focused their investigation on two vehicles that were stopped on the I-20 exit.

Channel 2’s Tom Jones was near the scene when several police officers arrested several youths not far from where a gunman shot a man. We are investigating whether this activity is related to the shooting.

People who live in the area say they are concerned about the violence.

“I don’t like hearing that. you know I don’t like to hear that,” Tyson told Battle Jones.

Buttle says the sneaks often set up on the ramp.

“They are here, near the exit, and they are passing through here. And some of them require changes, but I’ve never heard of anything like that,” he said.

Georgia Department of Transportation cameras in the area show an APD vehicle blocking an on-ramp onto the interstate.

The police have not disclosed the details of the possible suspects.
