What happened when “Bayesian” sank? New details are emerging about how the “unsinkable” yacht capsized

Seven people died after a British-flagged ship sank in bad weather while anchored off Sicily on August 19.

New details of what happened in the evening are emerging bayesianan allegedly “unsinkable” superyacht capsized off the coast of Italy.

Seven people died after the British-flagged ship sank in bad weather while anchored off Sicily on August 19.

According to reports, the 184-foot superyacht took about 16 minutes to sink 100 feet below the surface, leaving six people inside. Impact X Nightline disappeared in 16 minutes: a superyacht sank, which premiered Thursday, November 14, exclusively on Hulu.

Investigators believe the yacht flipped back into the water before listing to the right and eventually going under.

Six of the victims are a British technology entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah Lynch; Lawyer from New York Christopher Morvillo and his wife Neda; and chairman of Morgan Stanley International Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy – could not stand it.

Yacht chef Recaldo Thomas also died after the boat capsized.

The bayesian was made by yacht manufacturer Perini Navi, which was acquired by The Italian Sea Group at the end of 2021. CEO Giovanni Costantino suggested the vessel was designed to be “unsinkable”.

Initially, it was reported that the tornado may have hit the boat. But researchers now believe that a gust of more than 60 mph was the cause of the flooding.

Downdrafts are “strong localized downdrafts” that spread over the Earth’s surface as “straight-line winds,” according to National Weather Service.

Elizabeth Smith of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said strong flares can cause significant damage and are “a high-impact phenomenon if they are strong.”

The bodies of the six people who were found on the boat were found in cabins on the port side of the ship, reports Impact X Nightline. This side of the yacht was closest to the surface where air bubbles could be concentrated.

There are still many unknowns as the investigation continues bayesianThe boat’s sinking continues, including if the boat’s keel was in the correct position, which would have given it more wiggle room to list significantly in high winds.

Additionally, investigators have not discovered whether the boat had open doors and hatches that would have likely allowed the boat to take on more water than expected, or whether there was a black box on board.

“The bayesian the accident was a chain of unfortunate things tied together,” said Dan Leonard, co-founder and head of design at Nuvolari Leonard at Impact X Nightline. He compared it to a plane crash, adding: “It’s never because one screw fell off.”

According to the program, three crew members — the captain, the engineer and the sailor who was on watch the night of the fatal incident — are still under investigation for manslaughter and shipwreck.
