Trial date set for Horace woman charged in crash that injured three teenagers – InForum

FARGO. A court date has been set for a Horace, North Dakota woman charged with felony vehicular assault in a head-on crash in June.

Mackenzie Moser, 18, made her first personal appearance in a Cass County courtroom Thursday for a hearing where her attorney, Blake Hankey, asked for a trial date.

Judge Constance Cleveland has scheduled a jury trial, which is expected to last four to five days, for February 11.

Moser is charged with a traffic accident

It happened around 11 p.m. June 13 in Horace, when the car she was driving crossed the center line on Main Street at the intersection of Sixth Avenue North and struck a Honda Civic driven by Addison Marker, 16, of Jamestown. Also in Marker’s car were Marker’s 14-year-old sister, Claire, and their cousin, Megan Wieland, 16, of West Fargo.

Wieland was trapped inside the car after the accident.

All three girls who were in the Honda were taken to the hospital

to be treated for serious injuries, and Wieland needs to be transported by helicopter. Claire Marker suffered a ruptured spleen. Addison Marker and Wieland suffered vertebral fractures. Addison Marker also had several broken bones in her ankle and foot. All three spent several days in the hospital.

Moser, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was also injured. Police arrested her at the scene for refusing DSU before being transported to hospital where she remained overnight.

Court documents show Moser was also involved in the crash

in Fargo and was traveling 60 mph in a residential area of ​​Horace just before the crash.

In July, Moser waived her right to appear in court and pleaded not guilty to a single count of assault through her attorney. A misdemeanor charge against her was dismissed.

If she is found guilty, she faces up to five years in prison.
