A Vallejo man was arrested for DUI, firearm and drug charges

American Canyon police arrested a Vallejo man for driving under the influence and possession of illegal firearms and drugs near American Canyon High School early Thursday morning, according to a news release.

Police pulled over Vallejo resident Damar Gaines, 34, in a white Toyota Camry on Newell Drive, who they suspected was driving under the influence. Officers concluded that Gaines was intoxicated and had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit.

Police arrested Gaines and found him driving on a suspended license due to a previous DUI. During a search of the vehicle, they found a loaded, unregistered Smith and Wesson 9mm under the driver’s seat.

Gaines’ passenger was Oakland resident Deon Finley. Finley, 37, was also found in possession of an unregistered firearm and illegal drugs.

Both parties were arrested and have bail set at $25,000 each, according to the Napa County Jail log.
