Faizan Khan, the Chhattisgarh-based lawyer who threatened Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested by the Mumbai police on Tuesday. The Raipur residence demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.

Police have registered a case under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threat of death or grievous bodily harm) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Faizan.

The caller identified himself as “Hindustani” and asked for Rs 50 lakh. The caller said, “Ask Shahrukh Khan to pay Rs 50 lakh. If he doesn’t, he will die… My name doesn’t matter, but if you want, don’t write the name Hindustani.

According to PTI, the lawyer had earlier told the police that he had lost his phone last week and lodged a complaint with the police.

The threat to Shah Rukh Khan comes after a series of threats to actor Salman Khan, allegedly from Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang.

“The Bandra police station received a threatening call
Shahrukh Khan and asking 50 lakh rupees. An offense has been registered. No arrest has been made yet,” said a senior Mumbai police official.

The Bandra police registered a case under Sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or grievous bodily harm) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the caller who threatened Shah Rukh Khan, the official said.

According to him, police teams have been sent to various places for further investigation.

While the Mumbai police did not confirm reports that the call was made from Chhattisgarh, a Raipur police official said their colleagues in the Maharashtra capital sent a message to a person from the city on Thursday.

As part of the investigation into the Shah Rukh Khan threat, the Mumbai police visited Raipur and summoned a lawyer, identified as Faizan Khan, who lives within Pandri police station, Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told PTI.

Police had earlier identified the man as Fayyaz Khan.

According to preliminary information, the threatening call to the actor was made from a phone registered in the name of Faizan.

According to Singh, Faizan was asked to appear at the Bandra police station for questioning.
