Teens with criminal records walk free after carjacking in Baltimore

Three teenagers who stole a car A 39-year-old woman in the 5900 block of Holabird Ave returned home Tuesday.

The 13-, 14- and 15-year-olds were placed on ankle monitors and released to their guardians, according to a BPD spokesman.

After stealing the victim’s 2025 BMW X4, meaning one of the suspects had a gun, the suspects fled the scene before the BPD aviation unit spotted the vehicle.

The driver crashed into another vehicle on I95 and the suspect then fled the vehicle into the Rosedale area.

Fox45 obtained video of the suspects running around the neighborhood and being caught by Baltimore police.

At the time of the arrests, Baltimore police confirmed that each suspect had prior arrests, including arrests for stolen vehicles.

On Wednesday, two minors, 12 and 14 years old, stole another minor’s mobile phone at gunpoint.

Baltimore police tracked down the young man by tracking his phone. The 14-year-old victim recognized the 12-year-old by his teeth and the monitor on his ankle.

Baltimore police say a 12-year-old boy is a suspect in five other robberies.

The release of the carjacking suspects and the 12-year-old involved in the robbery comes amid continuing questions about the politics of the DJS and its leader, Minister Vincent Schiraldi.

Fox45 spoke with a DJS employee who said the ankle monitoring was not working.

“They can easily cut it off. They can let the ankle monitor die,” the employee said.

“They can walk out of their driveway and go wherever they want,” the worker said.
