GORMAN, Calif. (KABC) — Authorities have identified the driver of a stolen car who died after a high-speed chase ended in a violent crash in north Los Angeles County on Wednesday.

Anna Zauner, 26 years old, was killed after running from the police for more than an hour in a stolen 2024 Honda CRV at a high rate of speed before losing control and crashing into a guardrail and an overpass on the 5 Freeway in Gorman, according to authorities.

It is unclear how the vehicle was stolen.

The chase began around 2:00 p.m. in the Sylmar neighborhood when LAPD officers began pursuing the suspect.

During the chase, she wound through lanes of traffic and a construction zone, sometimes reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the fatal crash.
