The high-speed chase ended with the armed criminal being sentenced to seven years

A high-speed car chase in Danville ended in jail.

On November 4, 2024, Malik Brown, 25, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, a Class 2 felony, and possession of a stolen vehicle, a Class 4 felony, and was sentenced to seven years in the Department of Corrections Illinois.

Brown’s prison term will be followed by one year of mandatory supervised release.

On December 7, 2023, the Rossville Police Department advised the Danville Police Department that they were in pursuit of a vehicle with two stolen license plates traveling southbound in the direction of Danville.

Eventually the car arrived in the city of Danville. Several Danville Police officers joined the vehicle chase, during which the suspect vehicle reached speeds of approximately 85 mph on Vermilion Street and ran multiple stop signs.

The vehicle eventually drove through the backyard of a Danville residence, where it struck a deck and retaining wall before coming to rest.

The driver, later identified as Malik Brown, and the front seat passenger fled the vehicle and began a chase with police.

Brown and the passenger were detained. The car was confirmed stolen.
