Haley implores voters to turn out for Trump

Former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley did not appear with the former president Donald Trump on the campaign trail as she dropped her bid to challenge him and offered her support, but she’s giving her former rival a last-minute push.

Writing in English essay for The Wall Street Journalshe urged voters to come out and support Trump on Election Day. Sunday’s phone call was part of a last-ditch effort to rally Trump supporters as they try to put aside past differences and elect the Republican nominee. Haley took the opportunity to describe the incoming Trump administration as an improvement on what the country has experienced in the past four years under the presidency Joe Biden.

Haley acknowledged the reality that Trump is divisive and argued that voters who are least divided about whether they love or hate the former president will be the ones who can swing the election in his favor. She appealed to undecided voters.

“They like a lot of what he’s done as president and agree with most of his policies. But they don’t like his tone and they can’t condone his excesses like his behavior on January 6, 2021,” Haley said. “This third group of Americans will determine whether a former president returns to the White House.”

Haley went on to highlight the last four years of the Biden administration, pointing to the massive spending spree at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic that she said created the dire economic situation voters are in now.

“Today, Americans on average face roughly $13,000 more in annual income costs than four years ago. Prices for almost everything — food, gas, utilities, insurance — have gone up,” Haley wrote. “This is a direct result of the Biden-Harris agenda, which has fueled inflation and footed the bill for families.”

Haley also pointed to rising national debt as a result Vice President Kamala HarrisVotes on the “grossly misnamed” Rescue Plan and the Anti-Inflation Act, writing that “despite the name, the latter still contributes to higher inflation.”

Since the signing of the Law on Reducing Inflation in August 2022, inflation has increased steadily decreasesfalling to 2.1% in September 2024 from 9% in June 2022.

Haley’s call for support for Trump was tepid, though she spoke bluntly about what a future Harris administration would look like, saying it would “make America’s financial crisis worse” and linking it to the Biden administration’s foreign policy woes.

Haley mentioned Biden’s decision to withdraw US troops from there Afghanistanwriting that it “not only created a new terrorist state; it also signals weakness that has flared up of Russia war against Ukraine.”

Hayley continued, “Their appeasement Iran enriched this despotic regime and inspired it to wage war on Israel through its terrorists.” She also mentioned Biden’s position against China as “weakness”.

She was quick to say that the incoming Trump administration “won’t be perfect,” but that she agrees with Trump “most of the time.” … I disagree with Ms. Harris almost all the time. That makes the challenge easy.”

“But I agree with Mr. Trump that we need to keep taxes low and cut them even more,” Haley wrote. “I agree that we need to return trillions of dollars in special interest handouts. I agree that we need to expand American energy to empower our families and create jobs while making us less dependent on foreign energy.”
