Police want more details after one person was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Levin.

The accident happened on Gitterlea East Road at 5.20pm on Sunday when a person was walking a dog, which has not yet been found.

The car left the scene before the police arrived, the police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward or contact them online or on 105 on 241103/7573.
