1 charged with vehicular homicide after fatal collision in Marion County

LEBANON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A two-car crash on US 68 in Marion County has left two dead and one has been charged with vehicular homicide.

According to Kentucky State Police, the collision happened Saturday night near the intersection of Jessietown Road in Marion County. A preliminary investigation revealed that Eric Garcia, 20, was westbound when he crossed the center of the roadway, entered the eastbound lane and traveled off the roadway. As Garcia turned his vehicle back into the eastbound lane, he collided head-on with another vehicle.

The driver, 75-year-old Roy Wright, was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Deborah Wright, 72, a passenger, died at the scene.

Garcia was charged with homicide by vehicle while intoxicated, first degree assault, DUI (first offense), reckless endangerment (first offense), reckless driving and failure to provide insurance card.

The incident is being investigated by the KSP.
