The number one world ranking at the end of the year is now tied between Sabalenka and Svyatek. Sabalenka needs to win three out of four round-robin matches or reach the finals with two wins to grab the top spot. Svietek will need to win the event to have any hope of the top spot at the end of the year.

This 2024 season, both of these players have dominated in the build-up to the WTA Finals. Sabalenka has won two Grand Slams, while Sviatek has won four WTA 1000 tournaments and, of course, the French Open.

The tournament format for the 2024 WTA Finals is a round-robin format with groups competing from November 2 to 7; the top two group winners will compete in the semi-finals on November 8, culminating in the final on November 9.

Champion Switek won last year’s title in Cancun, beating Jessica Pegula 6-1, 6-0 in the final.

In the doubles, eight strong teams compete for their share of the prize money. The first seeds in the Green group are Lyudmila Kichenok and Yelena Ostapenko, while Gabriela Dabrovsky and Erin Rutliff lead the White group.
