BOCA RATON, Fla. (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A body found in a car in a West Boca Raton canal was identified Friday. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says this is Ginger Kennedy-Finelli. She lived in the complex where the car with her body was found.

As BocaNewsNow.com first reported Friday, Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 9440 SW 8th Avenue around noon after a report of a vehicle in the canal. It remains unclear whether the caller saw the vehicle enter the water or whether the vehicle had been in the water for some time and suddenly became visible. The dive team eventually made contact with the vehicle and found Kenny-Finelli inside.

PBSO says the case has been turned over to homicide investigators, but there are no indications of “foul play.” A homicide team is usually assigned to investigate death cases. According to preliminary information from sources, Ms. Kennedy-Finelli took her own life.

A report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com says Ginger Kennedy-Finelli, 58, was charged with beating a Palm Beach County police officer in 2013. Ultimately, that charge was not prosecuted by the state attorney’s office.
