Son charged in mother’s death and burglary in Van Buren County

VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI. — A man has been charged in a Van Buren County burglary that left his mother dead on Halloween morning.

According to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office (VBCSO), the theft occurred in the Sister Lakes area of ​​Keeler Township.

We were told that the 55-year-old woman was unresponsive. Rescuers tried to save her life, but she died on the spot. She has since been identified as Gloria White, who deputies say is the suspect’s mother.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect, 23-year-old Aidan White of Benton Harbor, was arrested near the crime scene. He was arraigned Friday on charges of open murder and first-degree home invasion.

Aiden received $2 million in cash/bond. He remains in custody at the Van Buren County Jail pending a Dec. 11 hearing.
