The Lethbridge Hurricanes defeated the Swift Current Broncos 3-1

A three-goal burst in the first period against the Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday night was all the Hurricanes needed en route to a 3-1 home victory over the Swift Current Broncos.

The Hurricanes have won seven games at home this year and are still undefeated in the regular season.

“Really liked our start,” Hurricanes assistant coach Ryan Assman said after the game. — We were very energetic after the jump. We love to play at home. We played well. Our fans are great so we got off to a good start. A little momentum. But I liked our details and our goals.”

Clicking on and off the ice

Their strong home record helped the Hurricanes to second place in the Eastern Conference and first place in the Central Division.

The players feel that the team is clicking both on and off the ice.

“I think we’ve come together pretty well as a team, all the guys are coming together, having fun off the ice, and we’re coming together on the ice to get some wins,” rookie defenseman Ryder Ellis said.

The main driving force behind the Canes’ early season success were players who took the next step in their development.

In 12 games, defenseman Will Sharp has 11 points, already matching his total for all of last season.

“Just being a little more comfortable in the league helps a lot. There is a long way to go. But, you know, you can’t do it alone. the teammates here are great, so everyone helped me perform,” Sharpe said.

Keep working

The Canes know they have to keep working to build on their momentum.

They got off to a similarly hot start last year before eventually settling for the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.

“They have to be aware of how they perform off the ice in the weight room,” Assman said. — Adequate rest will always be very important. Managing it and then making sure that our details in our game are important.

“We realized that there are a lot of aspects of the game that we need to connect to,” he added, “and we need to make sure that we compete every night and every day in practice.”

The Hurricanes are back in action on Friday night when they play the Calgary Hitmen at home.
