Schwinn Hurricane Storms is back as a compact electric bike for teenagers

Schwinn Hurricane Storms is back as a compact electric bike for teenagers

Hurricane Schwinn is back. Only this time it’s like an inexpensive e-bike marketed to young riders.

Wait, isn’t this a bad time to release a bike called the Hurricane? On the face of it, yes, but most bikes are in development for years before they hit the market, so Schwinn probably named this bike long before devastation from recent hurricanes. Schwinn also has a history with the name. Following the success of the Tornado and Typhoon, Schwinn’s original 1978 Hurricane took its name from natural disasters and style from motocross.

Although the new bike has the same type of seat, it is significantly different from the previous Hurricane. Now that was a bitch bike.

Long gone are the glory days of fillet-soldering Schwinn Bicycles. Instead, this new Hurricane is a compact e-bike with tiny 14-inch wheels aimed at teenagers.

The long seat (like the OG) is designed to allow you to slide back (for peep-a-willy I guess) and back (because anything that isn’t pop-a-willy). But it also allows you to find the right fit on the bike. Schwinn says it’s for riders age 13 and up and weighing up to 260 pounds.

Look, I’m not trying to be stingy, but I think this age group should get around on a real bike. By the time I was 13, I had the lungs and legs to take my Schwinn Stingray anywhere. This was also in 1978. Children these days.

It’s okay, I’m just saying what you think. Now get off my lawn.
