MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins Coach Mike McDaniel spoke to reporters on Wednesday.

The Dolphins play in Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and many questions revolved around it injured players who will be present or absent this weekend.

Highlights:

  • WR River Cracraft’s 21-day window opens today. OL Isaiah Wynn is trending up, but there is no timetable. DT Zach Siler is one of several “I won’t know until it gets closer to the game.”
  • Sieler does NOT need surgery for a broken orbital bone.
  • On having to go to Buffalo this week: “The opponent doesn’t matter when you’re not doing anything to beat NFL teams.” Adds that this is especially true if you play for the Buffalo Bills, who thrive on pouncing on mistakes. “I don’t mind if I have a difficult test or the hardest test (this week).”
  • On the big picture at 2-5: “It’s about how you deal with the noise. You’re either really good or really bad.”

  • On McDaniel’s contribution to the defense with coordinator Anthony Weaver, he talks about the need to trust his assistant coaches: “It takes a certain amount of humility to do your job well.”
  • In Bills’ defense: “They know when to take chances and when to play on percentages and make the offense earn it.”

  • On the third wide receiver role: “Odell (Beckham) came back from the offseason and the procedure (knee) and played one game behind Tua, that (positives) doesn’t show in the box score. It was a step in the right direction.” Adds that watching film, it’s a “fact” that the room has evolved over the last three weeks, and the Cardinals game was probably the team’s best game of the season. “It’s impossible to average 6 cr without blocking receivers.” Projecting the ball to Tyreek Hill and Jalen Weddle more because of the other contributions they’ve made.

  • On safety Javon Holland (knee): It’s not the big deal. “But for this game, he’s working deep to try and be available. He will not train today.”Dolphins reporter Hal Habib can be reached at [email protected]. Follow him on social media @gunnerhal. Click here to subscribe
