Cohoes man pleads guilty to DWI in police chase

A Cohoes man confessed driving while intoxicated and leading the police on a chase over three districts.

42-year-old Steven L. Devlin was arrested on June 18, 2024. Sheriff’s deputies tried to stop him shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Church Hill Road in Halfmoon Township. Devlin initially stopped, but then took off and led police at low speed.

The chase went through Waterford, Troy and onto the 787 in Cohoes before it eventually came to a halt. According to the investigator, Devlin also intentionally hit the patrol car.

Devlin pleaded guilty to DWI and operating a motor vehicle without a license on Wednesday in Saratoga County District Court.

His sentence should be announced on March 12.
