Actress Mata Ki Chowki Maskan Nancy James recently came into limelight after she filed a police complaint against her husband Prashant Motwani and his family. She accused her husband, as well as his mother Jyoti Motwani and his sister, actress Hansika Motwani, of serious crimes such as domestic violence, cruelty and financial exploitation. Since this news became available, many people have been eager to learn more about Muskan and the current case. Here’s a closer look at who she is, her relationship with Motwani and the controversy surrounding the allegations.

The small screen actress started her acting career in 2006 with a supporting role in the film “Todi Kushi Tod Gham”. It was her starring role in Mata Ki Chowki between 2008 and 2011 that helped her become a prominent face on television. Muskan went on to appear in other hit crime shows like Adaalat, Crime Patrol, Code Red and Bharat Ka Veer Putra: Maharana Pratap. She took a hiatus from the entertainment industry after her last role in 2015’s Agent Raghav: Criminal Division.

After marrying Prashant Motwani, brother of actress Hansika Motwani, in 2021, Muskan Nancy James initially seemed to have a happy life with her partner. They even had a grand wedding in Udaipur, but after two years, cracks began to appear in their relationship. Their differences forced them to live separately, and Muskan deleted her wedding photos from social media. Earlier this week, the actress decided to go to court, filing a case against her husband and his family.

On 18 December 2024, the actress filed a complaint at the Amboli police station in Mumbai, accusing Prashant Motwani and his family of various offences. The complaint contains charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, such as section 498-A (cruelty by husband or his relative), section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), section 504 (insult with intent to cause disturbance), section 506 (criminal intimidation) and section 34 (common intent).

According to Free Press Journal reports, Muskan Nancy James said in her FIR that she first met Prashant on a dating app and then he proposed to her. Discussing marriage in 2020, Muskan wanted to postpone the wedding after the death of a relative. She claims that her mother-in-law forced her into an arranged marriage and threatened that if she did not, Prashant would marry someone else. Due to pressure, Muskan agreed to marry Prashant in the same year.

After marriage, Muskan claims that her mother-in-law started demanding expensive gifts, but no matter what she gave, they were not satisfied and insulted her. She also accused them of booking a wedding venue in Udaipur without consulting her family and making them pay all the expenses. She also claims that she developed Bell’s palsy due to domestic violence and constant stress. Faced with these problems, Muskan decided to file a lawsuit.
