The Boadi Royal Family of Hoaso has expressed dismay at the recent statement by the Queen Mother of Hoaso, Nana Afia Serwaa, while announcing the cessation of Hoasohene.

The family described the Queen Mother’s words in which she allegedly tasked Salif 11, a vigilante group, to take over security in the Goaso municipality as unconstitutional and against Asante traditions.

In a statement released on Friday, December 27, 2024, the family condemned the Queen Mother’s statement, calling it “vile” and a potential incitement to violence.

“This announcement comes at a time when the community is still reeling from the gruesome killing of Krontihen, who was ambushed and killed on his farm. Krontihen’s only crime was to fulfill the great Asantehene oath and go to the High Court, Sunyani to stop the reception of Nana Afia Serwaa as Queen Mother,” said Frank Brefo Agyapong, Boadi royal family spokesperson.

The family called on the Ghana Police Service to act quickly to ensure peace and order in Hoaso. They called for an immediate investigation into the Queen Mother’s statement and demanded justice for the murdered Krontichena.

“We strongly condemn the Queen Mother’s statement, which is an incitement to violence and anarchy. We call on the Ghana Police Service to take immediate action to monitor the activities of the Queen Mother and ensure that she does not carry out her threat,” the statement read. added

The family also appealed to the Ahafo Regional Police Command to take urgent measures to address security concerns arising from the widely circulated video of the Queen Mother’s statement.

“We call on the police to provide adequate security to the residents of Hoaso and protect them from any form of violence or intimidation. The perpetrators of Krontihen’s murder must also be brought to justice,” Agyapong emphasized.

In addition, the family urged the “Salifah 11” to disregard the Queen Mother’s directive and refrain from involvement in Chief Hoaso’s affairs.

In their petition to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the family sought his intervention to ensure the preservation of Asante traditions and customs in Hoaso.

“We appeal to our esteemed occupant of the Golden Chair, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to intervene in this matter and ensure that Asante tradition is upheld,” the statement concluded.

The concern of the Boadi royal family comes amid heightened tensions in Hoaso following the latest developments in the chieftainship dispute.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

QUEEN MOTHER GOASO’S CONDEMNATION OF STATEMENTS ON THE TRANSFER OF POWER “SALIFU 11” AND A CALL FOR POLICE ACTION

We, the Boadi Royal Family of Hoaso, are shocked and appalled by the statement made by the Queen Mother of Hoaso, Nana Afia Serwaa on the 23rd of December 2024. Announcing Hoasohene’s death, she stated that she had assigned the Salif 11: Vigilance Group to take over the security of the municipality of Hoaso. This declaration is abhorrent, unconstitutional and against the sacred Asante tradition.

The announcement comes as the community is still reeling from the gruesome killing of Crontichen, who was ambushed and killed on his farm. Krontihene’s only crime was invoking the Asantehene great oath and going to the Sunyani High Court to stop the reception of Nana Afia Serwaa as Queen Mother, actions that Nana Kwasi Bosompra denied.

We strongly condemn the Queen Mother’s statement as an incitement to violence and anarchy. We call on the Ghana Police Service to take immediate action to monitor the activities of the Queen Mother and ensure that she does not carry out her threat.

We call the police:

1. To provide adequate security for the residents of Goaso and to protect them from any form of violence or intimidation.

2. Investigate the Queen Mother’s statement and take appropriate action against her if she is found to have incited violence.

3. Bring those responsible for the murder of Krontichen to justice.

4. Urge Salifa 11 to ignore the Queen Mother’s call and stay out of Chief Hoaso’s affairs.

We appeal to our esteemed occupant of the Golden Chair, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to intervene in this matter and ensure that Asante tradition is upheld.

We also call on the Ahafo Regional Police Command to take urgent action to address the security implications of the widely circulated video and ensure the rule of law is upheld in and around Hoaso.
