Fabiana Palladino shares new single “Drunk”: listen

Calling out indivisible children can be both fun and depressing — fun because LOL, screw that shit, depressing because it serves as a reminder that people whose parents have their own Wikipedia pages are more likely to succeed at whatever they choose way than the rest of us. However, every once in a while you meet a person with outstanding parents who really are there are insanely talented and whose success is well deserved. it is so actually depressing, or perhaps it serves to reinforce the idea that talent rises to the top, depending on your mood when you encounter such a case. Fabiana Palladino is one of them.

London-based musician Fabiana Palladino is the daughter of all-time great bassist Pino Palladino, so she’s not the child of some Lockheed Martin executive or anything. Fabiana Palladino has been making her own music for years, and she collaborates with Jai Paul’s Paul Institute. Palladino let her go this year self-titled debut albumand it’s damn cool. Now, Palladino has also shared “Drunk,” a gorgeously tight new track featuring her father on bass. It’s a little less sophisticated than the songs on her record, but has the same soulful, icy cool feel. Here’s what she says about the song:

“Drunk” was written against the background of the chaos of modern dating: trying to navigate apps, the blurred line between casual and serious, the experience of developing terminology in real life – situations, love bombings, ghosts, panning. Is this a new behavior or do we just have new words for them? I’m not sure, but I know I’m not the only one dealing with how difficult things seem these days. I’m not sure about Drunk, but I’m leaning towards uncertainty and drama, trying to find some art and meaning in it. Because it is not fun, and peace is boring.
