The two teenage girls were eighth graders at Delphi Community Middle School. Both were avid softball players, and after their deaths, the community named a new one softball park after them Family members say their favorite colors were blue and purple, and ribbons of those colors have been used over the years as a memorial. A memorial service and release of lanterns for both girls took place in February 2017.

About Liberty “Libby” in German

According to her obituaryLibby was involved in softball, volleyball, soccer and swimming. She participated in band and Academic Bowl and enjoyed arts, crafts and vacations. Her family established the German Liberty Scholarship Fund in her honor after her death.

About Abigail “Abby” Williams

abby obituary said she participated in softball, marching band and volleyball, and she attended several local churches with her family. Abby was an avid reader, loved photography, art, and decorating her mother’s home. She loved nature and animals, especially her cat Bongo.

Abby and Libby Memorial Park

After their death, family and community members began fundraising build a park in memory of two girls. Abby and Libby Memorial Park opened in 2021 with the first softball tournament.
